This collection, currently being sorted and annotated, will become part of the Institute’s Photographic Archives. Records cover the period from 1935 to the early 1980’s. Images are in various formats and are mainly aerial photos of major peaks and glaciers, especially the Steele Glacier which surged in 1966. There are terrestrial photos of this glacier taken (irregularly) for two decades after the surge. Unfortunately documentation (generally) is weak or lacking and some images are of poor quality requiring extensive restoration.
