Honourable Mention to Bill Barr for his translation of Emil Bessel's account

Bill Barr’s latest book, his edited translation of Emil Bessel’s account: Polaris. The chief scientist’s recollections of the American North Pole Expedition 1871-1873, published in the Northern Lights Series by the University of Calgary Press and the Arctic Institute of North America in November 2016, received an “honourable mention” in the category of “Naval and Maritime Science and Technology” for the John Lyman Book Award, presented by the North American Society for Oceanic History at its Annual Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina last week. The John Lyman Book Award is to recognize excellence in the publication of  books which make a significant contribution to the study of maritime and naval history. Congratulations Bill.
